Fonts missing in PDF

Ever produce a PDF file that has weird boxes in place of the characters you had in your source application?

It might have to do with the PDF setting you used to process the file. Check out this video to see what the problem looks like, and how you can produce a .joboptions file that will ensure proper display of your PDF, regardless of the fonts your audience may have on their own system.

In the example above, the fonts are properly loaded into Adobe FrameMaker, and in use within the document. However, because the Times font used is being excluded from the PDF, it may not display as desired on all computers. Additionally, you may want to force a specific font into the PDF if you expect that the font resource is unlikely to be on the system used to view the PDF.
